FIVE STARS AND WORTH THE HYPE! Bagels were fluffy, warm, and loaded with toppings. Service was fast despite the long line. Could have better seating, but hey, the food made up for it. If youre reading this - yes it is worth the hype.

I had in mind to try the "best bagel places" in LA . Courage and Layla. This an honest review of Layla. The wait on Labour day Monday was about 10 min at 1 pm so not too bad and there was another 15 min to get the food so altogether, it wasn't too bad. I ordered the Laika, basically bagel and lox with the usual accoutrements: capers , tomatoes and picked onions ($ 17 plus tip). You have the choice of bagel so I picked the everything bagel. The sandwich is very pretty but difficult to eat as it is stacked high. It tasted good but not as good as the ones I had in Montreal( St aviateur) or Apollo in New York. The salmon as others have noticed is not generously served and It was very salty. By no means, it was a disappointment but given the hype, I expected much more. I also felt "heavy "after finishing this. CONCLUSION: It is worth trying but I am not running again next time ... A difficult four stars.

Mind you this review is written by someone who isn't well-versed in the bagel realm. That being said, my friend & I really enjoyed our meals. I ordered The Scarlett with an oat chai & had a taste of my friend's Pre-Jam. Both were delicious. My order consisted of the cashew spread & the gluten free sesame bagel. Our bagels weren't chewy or difficult to bite into whatsoever. It was pure goodness. Besides our yummy meal, the service was immaculate. There seems to be a constant line but that doesn't stop the nice employees from being quick & efficient. I'll be back!

My friend told me we had to get bagels here while she was in town. Bagels were seriously out of this world. Pre jam bagel is INSANE this seasonal fruit is "pluot" plum & kumquat? Get it on a sesame bagel. Lox bagel on everything bagel was good too but pre jam wins. Good service and the energy is wild. Lots of people and the line is gnarly but worth the wait. Outdoor & indoor seating plus dog friendly! Matcha peach latte was bomb but sweet. Iced oat latte was giving good coffee beans & quality alt. Milk. Definitely coming back!

I went pretty early in the morning so I was able to find free street parking. The line to order was long but moved quick and the wait for the food wasn't too long. I really liked my lox bagel here and appreciated that you could get it by half (half is a perfect bite). The tomato in the lox bagel looked heirloom and I liked how they seasoned the tomato. Every component on the lox bagel was really good and fresh. I got the Jalapeno bagel for my sandwich and it was reminiscent of NYC. I would definitely come back here again.
